Got 5 Bucks? 7 Ways To Promote Your Kickstarter Campaign

BY Erin Kienzle, CrowdFundBeat Guest Editor, Let’s face it. People turn to sites like Kickstarter or Indiegogo because they need money. While it would be ideal to hire a PR firm for $10,000 to run your campaign, that’s just not possible for most folks.

Yes, you’re probably competent and capable of running your entire campaign, but it’s a LOT of work and time constraints get in the way. Sometimes it’s nice to dump your work on someone else. Someone cheap.

For only five bucks, you can purchase countless services to set-up, run, and promote your crowdfunding campaign.

Landing Page
Before you launch a campaign, you want to spend some time building a list of your target audience… and by list, I mean collecting their email addresses. The best way to create that list is to use what we call a landing page or squeeze page. Sure, you can fiddle around on WordPress, or use a paid service… or you can simply buy one… for five bucks.

FB Cover photo
A lot of people miss this golden opportunity. Change your Facebook header to reflect your campaign! It’s a great way to direct traffic to your site. (Now between you and me, it’s really easy to go to a free site like PicMonkey or Canva and make the header yourself.) However, your free time is limited, so if you want to outsource it, here ya go.

Press Releases
Since I write press releases for a living, a press release for $5 pains me. I think a well-crafted press release grabs attention, tells a story, and most importantly tells the journalist why his readers or viewers should care. Yet, if you’re strapped for time, or simply not a good wordsmith, turn to Fiverr.

Press Release Distribution
Piggybacking off number 3… You have a press release, now what? You can always pay someone on Fiverr to distribute it for you. However, I post this with caution. Even if he or she distributes your release to thousands, it really doesn’t matter if it’s not your audience. Sure it’s only $5, so it might be worth a try… but you also want to attempt to develop your own list of highly targeted press who would actually be inclined to write about your campaign.

Social Media Manager
Social media is all about building a community and engaging with them on a daily basis. Yet again, it’s only $5. Who wouldn’t want his or her own social media manager?

Google AdWords
If you want to pay to advertise your campaign online, you may want to find someone to optimize your campaign. Folks on Fiverr will optimize your campaign. Some will even design your Adwords banner.

Facebook Ads
If Facebook is a better platform for you, you can find that too. These folks will write, optimize and place the ad for you. All for… that’s right… five bucks.
Now I’ve included links to vendors on Fiverr, yet I’ve never used any of these people, so I can’t personally attest to the quality of their work. If you go the Fiverr route, obviously, choose someone with good reviews and ideally, a lot of customers. If you find that you’re not happy with the quality of the work, what can I say? At least you’re only out five bucks.
