DWISS’ traditional business is creating limited edition mechanical watches but the company is looking to mimic the success of Griffin and Proporta by getting into the Apple accessories market.
The company has launched an Indiegogo campaign to create covers, straps, lugs and even watchfaces for Apple’s wearable device – and it’s looking for eager backers.
The covers – which are unfortunately called Cover Candy – come in a range of Thermoplastic Polyurethane protectors that pull over the watch, much like neoprene iPhone covers today. They’re available at the bargain basement price of $19.
The straps and lugs also add a certain ostentatious edge to your Apple Watch, if you opted not to go for the Apple Watch Edition. These start at $49 for the sporty Toucan strap, and up to $79 for the blingy Albatross.
Finally, you can choose from a range of custom watchfaces, which the company is selling for $1 a piece.
The Indiegogo campaign is more of a pre-ordering system for the covers and straps, although the company has set a target for $30,000 of new business.
Bearing in mind that the iPhone accessories market is a multi-million dollar enterprise, DWISS seems to be onto a winner with its latest business. However, DWISS transforming from luxury watchmaker to an Apple accessory oxpeckershows how the Swiss are viewing Apple’s tank driving up on their lawns.
