Overfunding on Crowdfunder is a fantastic opportunity to raise more funds for your project – you’re guaranteed to receive the money you’ve raised so far, you’ve got a huge amount of support from your crowd, and an amazing success story that can only get better! On average, the projects that choose to put effort into overfunding reach 142% of their original target!
Here are some top tips to give you the best possible chance of overfunding success.
1, Set a stretch target
It’s important to set a stretch target for the remainder of your project so that people know their pledges will still make a difference.
2, Expand your aims
Justify what you can do if you reach your stretch target to your new and exisiting backers.
3, Add three new rewards
Include a token ‘thank you’ reward for all of your current backers to ask them to pledge and share again.
Add something for all the new people who are starting to hear about your project now that it’s well out of your network. People like to associate themselves with things that are successful, now is your chance to capitalise on that.
It’s great PR for a company to be seen supporting a project like yours, especially as you’ve hit 100%. Add a corporate sponsorship reward for them to pledge on.
4, Get visual
Add an ‘overfunding’ banner to your thumbnail picture and, if you can, an overfunding banner within your description. Wavelength Magazine did this really well.
5, Update + activate backers
Write a new project update and make sure everyone knows about your new targets and goals. 100% is not the end for your project so ask all of your backers to share it with three friends.
6, Show you mean business
Getting to 120% quickly makes it obvious that you’re overfunding, this is the best way to show you’re serious about reaching your overfunding target.
7, Share share share!
Now that you’ve redefined your target and aims, your page is looking great! It’s time to do one final push on all of your contact channels. Use social media to create a buzz, write an overfunding press release, send another email, get in touch with your local TV station and tweet a celebrity!
