TubeStart is a crowdfunding site for independent film producers and their supports. With an eye toward funding videos that are often shared at no charge on YouTube, the site brings film supporters together with creators to help advance the art and business of film.
On Monday, November 25, 2013 at 4:00 Eastern, TubeStart founder Josef Holm will join CrowdFundBeat live for an exclusive discussion about crowdfunding independent films.
From the TubeStart site:
Claude Shires & Josef Holm at Vidcon 2013Tubestart was founded in 2013 by Josef Holm and Claude Shires to solve a problem that most online video creators have in common with other independent content producers: lack of funding for their projects and limited revenue streams. When the two started working on their first YouTube channel “StandUpBits”, they soon realized that;
- It was expensive to produce, or in their case license, edit, encode and upload high quality content.
- It was pretty much impossible to make enough money through Ads on sites like Youtube to keep producing (and living).
- Mainstream crowdfunding platforms are not ideal for online video creators for several reasons.So the idea for tubestart was born to help guide online video creatives to fund their content through the crowd.
